The dragon turtle is a recurring figure in Chinese decorative arts, combining the shell of a turtle with the head of a dragon. The pairing is traditionally associated with protection and long life. A domed lid lifts free to reveal a shallow bowl underneath.
The antique finish is cast into the metal rather than applied as a surface coating, so the texture carries through the piece. The lid keeps the interior enclosed when the piece is on display.
