The horse is one of the oldest subjects in sculpture. Abstract treatments of the animal reduce the body to its essential lines. The arch of the neck, the reach of the legs, and the angle of the head carry the piece. Detail gives way to gesture.
The horse is shown mid-step. One foreleg lifts and folds back at the knee. The head drops low and curves in toward the chest. The body is built from flat, angular facets rather than smooth muscle, so light breaks differently across each plane. Long, narrow legs lift the body well clear of the base.
Aluminum holds a clean edge and does not rust indoors. The Black finish carries a distressed silver wash that picks out the facet edges. Red gives the most contrast against neutral walls. Gold catches directional light.
